Certificate IV in Security and Risk Management PRS40103 (Nationally Recognised)
The Certificate IV in Security and Risk Management is the basic qualification required by security Consultants. It is the NSW Licensing requirement to be issued a Class 2A Security Consultants licence. It is also suitable for those who have a requirement to undertake risk management and analysis within any area of their workplace or in their business activities. It has wide application to all aspects of business. The manage OHS unit gives wide spread relevance to this particular qualification. Our target group is predominately those security professionals who require the qualification as part of their licensing requirements or those who are desirous of obtaining their Security Consultants license. We have in the past attracted Candidates from the Building and property Services industry, manufacturing and law enforcement areas. Units of the qualification have application as electives in several other business qualifications. After completion of this qualification the student can further their study to complete a Diploma of Security and Risk Management. To achieve the qualification the candidate must have demonstrated competency against all 11 core units plus 4 elective units. Up to two of the required four electives may be selected from other relevant endorsed Training Package qualifications aligned at the Certificate IV level.

The Structure of the course involves 8 days attendance in the classroom which can be achieved in two, three day continuous blocks.
- Attendance of classroom presentations / videos

- Major Assignment (Risk Assessment)
There is substantial homework tasks which promote analytical thinking and several industry relevant risk management and situational analysis projects that are security and safety in the workplace orientated. This enables the Students to build substantial practical skills and templates for use at a later date and enables them to study areas of risk within their own workplace / environment which facilitates learning and interest because of the increased relevance and context in which the distance learning takes place. This culminates in a major workplace orientated risk assessment.
The assessable elements of this major work are a letter of introduction, terms of reference in relation to the task, a professional disclaimer, detailed risk treatment options and a risk report setting out all issues identified and recommendations to the client.
Situational analysis, a task analysis, a risk assessment using qualitative analysis tools, quantitative analysis tools and risk Nomograms. This is prepared and submitted in your own time.
Students are provided with training materials including learning resources (Operational Risk Management Text on disc), reference materials and assessments. They are also supplied a hard copy of the Australian Standards AS/NZS 4360 Risk Management and Handbook HB 436 Risk Management Guidelines - Companion to AS/NSW 4360. These are intentded to be used together, with the Handbook providing important commentary, guidance and examples on the implementation of the Standard. (Over $300 worth of Risk Management materials provided)
Note: To be issued a NSW Security Licence 2A - Security Consultant, using the Certificate IV in Security and Risk Management PRS40103 you must have been in the security industry or equivalent for five (5) years.
