Congratulations on your interetest in joining the NSW Security Industry and in particular looking at our website. We are hoping you choose to complete your training with VAST Academy.

Security officers perform a wide range of duties, from static guarding, mobile patrol work, bodyguarding, dog handling, retail loss prevention, working with firearms, monitoring cameras and alarms, working at music concerts, big events and lots more.

You have alot to choose from, however you must hold the specific Licence for the class of work you intend to do. 

Firstly:

Duration: 4 Days for 11122 Security Pre-Licence

               1 Day for Senior First Aid

P1A + P1G - Provisional Unarmed Guard + Retail Loss Prevention Officer

This licence would allow you to perform duties including, static and mobile patrol work, alarm responses, guarding, shopping centre security, gatehouse duties and shop security. The training required includes:

P1B - Provisional Bodyguard

This licence would allow you to perform duties including, static and mobile patrol work, alarm responses, guarding, shopping centre security, gatehouse duties and shop security. The training required includes:

Duration: 5 Days

P1C - Provisional Venue/Crowd Controller or Bouncer

This licence would allow you to perform duties including, working in pubs and clubs, major sporting events, major public events, concerts outdoor entertainment. The training required includes:

P1D - Provisional Dog Handler 

This licence would allow you to perform duties including, patrolling with a security dog and crowd control with a security dog. The training required includes:

P1E - Provisional Monitoring Centre Operator 

This licence would allow you to perform duties including monitoring alarms, monitoring CCTV, liasing with emergency services, dispatching patrol officers and mobile patrol officers. The training required includes:

P1F - Provisional Armed Guard

This licence would allow you to perform duties including uniformed cash in transit. The training required includes:

At the completion of any of the courses you are then required to submit an application form to obtain a security licence, for an additional fee of $130 (payable to the NSW Security Industry Registry). Allowing 6 - 7 weeks for processing
