ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Students are expected to have language, literacy and numeracy skills required to perform the duties of the specific field in which they are seeking employment. An understanding of English is required to undertake the course, this level, defined by VETAB and the Security Industry Registry is ASLPR-3. (Australian Second Language Proficiency Rating Level -3) Students of non-English speaking background having difficulty with the English language will be referred to the nearest TAFE for a language assessment. Security Officers are required to complete logs and incident reports on a daily basis, therefore, the ability to write in English is also a requirement.

EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE

VAST has established a database for its students. This database is used to provide information to prospective employers. All students have the option of being included on this database. VAST will actively assist its graduates to find employment in the field of their choosing.

ASSESSMENT

Students will be assessed by qualified trainers and assessors against the learning outcomes and assessment criteria described in each unit of the course. Students, in consultation with the trainer, may be permitted to resubmit work after revision, or may be assessed in other ways. All students’ assessments will be filed as part of their academic documentation.

RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING

Recognition of prior learning will be available to all students who believe they are already competent in relation to the learning outcomes. Recognition of prior learning will be determined on an individual basis and will involve judging the competencies attained by the student through training, work experience or life experience. VAST will provide RPL through its existing policy guidelines. For further information please contact the office.

COURSE PAYMENTS, CANCELLATIONS AND REFUNDS

A deposit of $100 must be presented, along with the Application Form, to secure your enrolment on a course. Final payment is due prior to the commencement of the course. A receipt and letter of confirmation of your place in the course will be forwarded to you by mail. If you are unable to attend your course and providing you notify the office (4 Days Notice minimum) in writing (email or by phone, you are entitled to a full refund. If you start the course and have paid in full and are unable to attend the course for unforeseen reasons then a refund on a pro-rata basis will be calculated.

REQUIREMENT TO RECEIVE THE QUALIFICATION

Students who complete individual units and do not meet the requirements for a Certificate will be provided with a Statement of Attainment for each unit successfully completed. Students who successfully complete a course will receive a Nationally Recognised Certificate.

MUTUAL RECOGNITION

VAST ACADEMY is committed to providing a high quality, valid, reliable, flexible and fair, education and training system to people from all backgrounds and circumstances.

The Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF) provides a national framework for all education and training qualifications in Australia. The Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) aims to provide consistency of qualifications across Australia.

Qualifications and Statements of Attainment issued by Registered Training Organisations (RTO’s) have national recognition irrespective of whether the training and/or assessment has taken place on or off the job.

VAST ACADEMY will ensure students are offered mutual recognition for qualifications or Statements of Attainment completed at other Registered Training Organisations.

RISK MANAGEMENT

VAST ACADEMY makes every reasonable attempt to identify and mange risks concerned with compliance, with the Standards for Registered Training Organisations; and correct and prevent any failure to comply with the standards quality system, policies or procedures of the organisaton.

PRIVACY OF YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION

VAST ACADEMY is committed to handling your private information in accordance with the provisions of the Privacy Act 2001. You will be requested to sign an application form giving permission for any of your work to be used or provided to others for the purpose of audit and other government related information gathering.

Your personal data will not be used for any marketing purpose and we will not be disclosed to any other third party unless required by law or as part of an investigation under the National Training Qualification Framework.

APPEALS GRIEVANCES OR COMPLAINTS

Students may lodge an Appeal, Grievance or complaint Form if they have: 

Students lodging a grievance will be provided with the name and address of an appropriate government body, to whom they may make their grievance in the event of the result being unsatisfactory.

STUDENT SUPPORT SERVICES

The desired outcome for VAST is to ensure students achieve the competency standard and gain their Certificate.  VAST is committed to providing students with support and assistance to enable them to satisfactorily complete the course, or to assist the student in identifying appropriate support agencies or services.

 

All student records in relation to courses completed and qualifications / certificates attained are entered onto the student database ESCED.  These records are available to the student on contact with the CEO.  Reprints of certificates etc are also available at a cost. All payments are recorded on MYOB and can be accessed if required.
