Additional Information
It is extremely important that law enforcement officers have an understanding of the use of force and what skills they need to properly use force. The VAST DT package includes the Monadnock Defensive Tactics System (MDTS) from the renowned Monadnock Police Training Council, plus additional techniques.
The MDTS is a comprehensive unarmed defensive tactics program that trains officers how to use effective less-lethal force in a reasonable manner, and within generally acceptable use of force guidelines. MDTS is more than just another defensive tactics program - it is a truly comprehensive system.
MDTS serves as the "foundation" for all use-of-force training. MDTS allows for integration of straight baton, OC/CS aerosol sprays, handcuffing, weapon retention, firearms and other force options. This program was developed after extensive research and with the collective input of some of the most well known and respected use of force and defensive tactics instructors from around the world.
MDTS contains all the components for a law enforcement / security defensive tactics program in an environment where accountability is a pressing issue. MDTS works; it is cost effective; the techniques are acceptable in the courts and in the community; subjects can be effectively controlled in a humane manner with minimal potential for injury; the skills can be effectively used by any officer, regardless of size, gender or age.
