Certificate II in Security Operations PRS20103
With recent changes within the NSW Security Industry and the adoption of the PRS03 Asset Security Training package, all existing licence holders are required to update their qualifications relevant to their licence.
The NSW Security Industry Registry has selected units of competency required for licencing from the PRS03 Asset Security Training package for the following licence 1A - Unarmed Guard (Unconditional)
Units include:
- PRSSO201A Communicate effectively in the security industry
- PRSSO202A Maintain workplace safety
- PRSSO203A Work effectively in the security industry
- PRSSO204A Work as part of a team
- PRSSO205A Provide security services to customer
- PRSSO206A Provide first aid
- PRSSO207A Respond to security risk situation
- PRSSO208A Give evidence in court
- PRSSO215A Operate basic security equipment
- PRSSO216A Patrol premises
- TDTE701A Use communication systems
Once you have successfully completed all the above units you then are issued a Certificate II in Security Operations PRS20103 for 1A - Unarmed Guard

Units include:
- PRSSO209A Protect persons
- PRSSO210A Control access to and exit from premises
- PRSSO211A Monitor and control individual and crowd behaviour
- PRSSO305A Manage conflict throug negotiation
Once you have successfully completed all the above units including the 1A units you then are issued a Certificate II in Security Operations PRS20103 for 1A - Unarmed Guard & 1C - Venue/Crowd Controller or Bouncer
The RPL process takes into account your experience, knowledge and skills which you have gained and maintained whilst you have held a licence and requires you to complete the "gap training".
The RPL process involves you attending one (1) day training, in which you will cover an update and referesher on law (especially powers of arrest LEPRA), PRSSO208A Give evidence in court, PRSSO305A Manage conflict through negotiation. We will also go through your RPL Kit and help you complete it. This will be covered all in one day.
You will be required to bring with you on the day, documents including:
- Security Licence
- Resume
- Previous certificates (i.e. cert II in security guarding, first aid, RSA, OHS etc)
- Letter from your current and previous employers
- Job description
- Security officer notebook / Logs etc
- Incident reports
- Any other evidence of competence as a security officer
